About the Author

Dr. Alen Juginovic is a physician and postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School where he studies the impact of sleep quality on health. He teaches a course titled "Neurobiology of emotions and mood disorders" at Harvard College. Alen serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, the official journal of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and is the author of the book "Sleep Science Made Simple”. He is active in the field of sports sleep medicine where he helps teams and athletes with next-generation sleep optimization, as well as sleep optimization for business professionals who travel frequently. Alen is also an advisor for several early and mid-stage companies in the sleep tech field.

Since 2017, Alen and his team have organized annual conferences in Croatia aimed at inspiring the next generation of biomedical leaders. These conferences, some of which are organized by his NGO Med&X (www.medx.hr), have gathered over 2,400 participants from more than 30 countries, including 10 Nobel Laureates and many medical leaders from around the world. Furthermore, Med&X organizes the Accelerator program, which partners with research labs and clinics at leading universities and hospitals like Harvard, Cleveland Clinic, and MIT to offer medical students, physicians and scientists invaluable clinical and research internship opportunities.

Alen has received several awards, including the European Citizen's Prize, Best Young Project Manager in Croatia, two Rector's Awards from the University of Split, and the Think Global Award.
